Summer BBQ, Isle of Arran: 20-22 June 2014

Pictured above are members of the Kyle Mountain Club on their Annual BBQ weekend meet and this time it was held in a very sunny Corrie on the Island of Arran.

There is so much to do on Arran and with a good weather forecast it was very difficult for members to pick one activity.  Some members headed off to the hills and explored the excellent ridge walks that are on on offer on Arran and were rewarded with fantastic views.  A group of 4 went off rock climbing and quite a few members went cycling around the Island.

Everyone returned hungry and ready for the BBQ on the Saturday evening and fortunately along with the sun there was a sufficient breeze to keep the midgies away.

Shalloch on Minnoch day out

This was one of those off-the-cuff day out Fee organised by email.  After meeting in Straiton we headed for a wee lay-by just past Stinchar Brg.
Our route took us across some rough moor up onto Shalloch on Minnoch.  To make a nice wee circuit we returned via Craigmasheenie and Cornish Loch.
A grand walk.

A river crossing early in the day.  It's handy being able to walk on water

Lagangarbh Hut, Glencoe 28 - 30 March

Members of the Kyle Mountain Club outside Lagangarbh Hut at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mor.

Another great weekend!!

Some of the team headed up to the Coe on Friday and hit the slopes at the White Coires.
Saturday saw Kev and I heading up the Ben at 07.15 en-route for Ledge Route.  While Corbett bashing occupied some of the team, the high winds on Saturday resulted in both Glencoe and Nevis Range Ski resorts being closed, however regardless of this everyone enjoyed themselves and still returned home with fond memories.

Lagangarbh is a great base.  This hut was originally a crofting home however was cleverly adapted to sleep 20 people.

The Kyle Club has been going along for many years now and it was also a great opportunity for  members to share one of their favourite meets with some new members that had come along for the weekend.

The Hut is in a perfect position for the Climbers, Mountaineers and Ski-iers within the Club and provides a unique view of one of Scotland's best and most photographed mountains (Buachaille Etive Mor).

Sunday saw the most of the team head home while I headed up into the gloom of Meall a Bhuiridh on ski and Kev took to two wheels.

Cairn Dearg Hut, Glen Clova

Another good weekend with the club, Glen Clove is a briliant place even in the rain and gales. Saturday saw three of us head to the tops while the others had a walk up Jocks road.

Enough for any weekend home on Sunday before we got washed out.
Kevin, Ian and I took the climbing gear for a wee walk into Winter Corrie then onto Driesh and Mayer, back down by Corrie Fee to the Cairn Dearg hut for curry, beer and a blether with the rest of the club.  Loads of snow on the tops, a bit soft in the corrie and for walking on.
